A receipt holds everything Cashinator needs for a clean expense entry. Express Scan puts it into the right fields for you:

- Total – a tip is detected separately

How do I scan a receipt and split the bill with my group?
Open Express Scan in Cashinator and take a photo of the receipt. The app automatically recognizes the total, date, place, category and the individual line items. Then you choose who paid, assign the items to people, check everything and save the expense.
Which receipt data does Express Scan recognize?
Merchant, total, tip, date, time, place and currency, plus the individual line items with quantity and price. Express Scan also suggests a matching category from your trip or group.
Can I assign individual items to different people?
Yes. Pick a person and tap the items they shared in. An item can also be split between several people, such as a shared bottle of wine. Unassigned items can be spread across everyone with one tap – or you split the whole receipt evenly.
What if something was recognized incorrectly?
You stay in full control: before saving you can edit, add or delete items and adjust the total. If a receipt cannot be read reliably, the app tells you. You can then try another photo or enter the expense manually as usual.
Does the receipt scanner work abroad and with foreign currencies?
Yes. Express Scan detects the currency on the receipt. Cashinator books the expense in that currency and converts it to your home currency at the daily exchange rate – ideal for travel expenses.
How much does Express Scan cost?
5 Express Scans are included for free so you can try it out. The unlimited journeys package includes 20 Express Scans, the unlimited PLUS group license even 50. More scans are available as packages via in-app purchase whenever you need them – no subscription, and purchased scans never expire. A scan is only used up once you save the expense. Do I need an account or an internet connection?
You do not need an account or registration – like everywhere in Cashinator. Automatic receipt recognition does require an internet connection because the photo is transferred for analysis. Without a connection you simply enter the expense manually.
What happens to the photo of my receipt?
For recognition, a reduced-size version of the photo is sent encrypted to our server and from there to a service provider for automatic receipt recognition. We do not store this analysis image afterwards. The original photo is attached to the expense like any other receipt photo. Please do not photograph receipts containing sensitive personal data.
