Cashinator Updates

“General bug fixes” doesn’t tell the story. Here you’ll find detailed release notes for every version — performance, new features, bug fixes, and design improvements.

Version 5.1.0

  • Integrated calculator: When creating a new expense, you can now directly calculate multiple values. All of this runs smoothly in the familiar flow without additional windows or cumbersome additional buttons that open a calculator. Add, subtract, multiply, or divide a few values and enter the result with a click into your expense - as intuitive as before.
  • Households: In the 'Who was paid for?' step, you can now easily choose an entire household or exclude individual household members from the payment.
  • What doesn't fit is made to fit: Previously, excessive amounts were broken in an unsightly manner. This no longer happens.
  • Some changes regarding the wording, especially in the English version.

Version 5.0.2

  • You no longer have to painstakingly type the access code from your Whatsapp, iMessage, SMS, or email messages, but can now relax and click on a new sharing link - it will take you directly to your new trip. Security is also taken care of: The link is only valid for a few days and access will be blocked after multiple incorrect entries.
  • Minor bug fixes.

Version 5.0.1

  • Categories could not be deleted or were not displayed correctly. The issue has been fixed.
  • There was an inexplicable rounding error when selecting parts and percentages for expense distribution. The issue has been fixed.
  • If calculations involve decimal places, they are now displayed so that the result remains plausible and explainable even for amounts that are not evenly divisible.
  • The dialog for rating the app no longer appears at inconvenient times.
  • Update of the PDF engine to ensure compatibility with various third-party software.

Version 5.0.0

Welcome Cashinator 5!

It has been prepared in the background for a long time and now the time has finally come. Cashinator 5 is launching on time for Pentecost and is already being celebrated as a revolution among bill-splitting apps. Cashinator 5 will simplify the lives of traveling families so much that you won't want to trade the app for a notepad or calculator anymore.

But what's new? It's not a redesign, no integration of social media videos, and you won't suddenly be charged for new hidden pro features. Everything stays as it is because you keep making it clear how satisfied you are with it. Thank you for that! It is a single new feature, which you can activate manually and justifies the step towards version 5: It's called "Families & Households".

So now you can finally group travel participants into their households or families. The unique and amazing thing about this initially unspectacular-sounding function: At the end of the trip, only a maximum of one payment between two households is necessary! This even works without hyped artificial intelligence, but is diligently calculated in the background through pure mathematical logic on your smartphone. Finally, the unnecessary back-and-forth movement of money, such as from your own child to a person from the befriended family, even though the child cannot pay anything yet, is eliminated. When entering new expenses, the balance is always correctly and fairly determined, even if there is a different number of people living in the households. Only one selected person from each family takes care of the money transfer between the families. After the cash register has been balanced with as few payments as possible, Cashinator then offers you the option of voluntarily settling the debts within the family.

In summary, the feature makes particular sense when you are traveling with several families, only have one account as a couple, or have children in the household who cannot pay yet. It has been implemented in such a way that it does not affect your existing balances or groups and therefore does not affect the clarity of the app. You can even assign members to a household during an ongoing vacation, and Cashinator will already calculate the optimal settlement payments for you.

Version 5 also brings additional small noteworthy features:

  • Notes are now printed in the PDF file.
  • If you want to transfer members from old trips, you can clean up the displayed list so that even this corner of the app remains clear.
  • When creating new trips and groups, you can directly edit members in case you made a mistake.
  • The visible initials of new members are now intelligently preselected. A subsequent change is of course possible.

Version 4.1.1

  • Fix for creating new expenses. In rare cases, Cashinator would jump back to the home screen while creating new expenses.
